Service terms

Last updated: October 3, 2026

These terms apply when you book a paid service (for example cleaning, AC servicing, a plumber or an electrician) in the Services section of GiveAway. They come in addition to our Terms of Use. The free giveaway part of GiveAway is not affected: items there stay free.

1. What the Services section is

GiveAway is a marketplace. It lets you find, book and review independent service providers (“providers”) in your area. The Platform is operated by GiveAway India (“we”, “us”).

  • Providers are independent businesses or self-employed people. They are not our employees, agents or subcontractors.
  • The agreement for the service itself is between you and the provider. We are not a party to it and we do not carry out the work.
  • We provide the booking tools, check providers’ documents before they are shown, handle online payment through a payment company, and help when something goes wrong.

2. What we check — and what we do not

Before a provider appears on the Platform we check an identity document, and for companies a business registration. For some trades we ask for a trade licence.

We do not run criminal background checks, we do not test skills, and we cannot guarantee the quality, safety or legality of any service. Please use the same care you would use when letting any tradesperson into your home.

3. How a booking works

  1. You choose a provider, a package, a day and a free time, and give the address and a phone number.
  2. The provider accepts or declines your request. A request that is not answered before the start time expires automatically.
  3. After acceptance you see a 4-digit start code. Give this code to the provider only when they arrive at your door. The job starts when they enter it.
  4. When the work is finished the provider marks the job complete. You can then leave a review.

Your address and phone number are shown to the provider only after they accept your booking, and are used only for that job.

4. Prices

  • Each provider sets their own price inside a range we allow for your country. Prices are shown in your local currency.
  • The price shown when you book is the price of the packages you chose. Unless the provider’s page says otherwise, it includes any tax the provider has to charge.
  • For some services (for example plumbing and electrical work) the price is a visit fee: it covers the visit and the diagnosis. The provider tells you the price of the repair and of any parts before starting; you are free to say no and pay only the visit fee.
  • Extra work that you agree on site is added by the provider when completing the job and appears on your receipt. If an extra amount was not agreed with you, report it (section 7).

5. Payment

Depending on your country and the provider, you can choose between:

  • Pay the provider directly after the job — in cash or with the provider’s own QR code or wallet. We do not handle this money.
  • Pay online before the job starts, through a licensed payment company (for example UPI, cards, bank transfer or e-wallets, depending on the country). You type your payment details on the payment company’s page; we never see or store your card or bank details.

When you pay online, the payment company collects the money for the provider. The provider receives it after the job is completed. Your receipt is on the booking page and can be printed.

Never pay a provider through a link, account or app that was sent to you outside the booking page before the job, and never pay a “deposit” to reserve a time. Report anyone who asks.

6. Changes, cancellations and no-shows

  • You can cancel free of charge at any time before the job starts. Please cancel as early as you can; repeated late cancellations can lead to limits on your account.
  • A provider can also cancel, for example when they are ill. You will be notified at once.
  • If you paid online and the booking is cancelled, declined, expired, or the provider does not come, the full amount is refunded to the payment method you used. How fast the money reaches you depends on the payment company and your bank, usually 5–10 working days.
  • If nobody is at the address at the agreed time, the provider may leave and the visit may still be charged where a visit fee applies.

7. Problems, complaints and refunds

First talk to the provider through the chat on the booking page — most problems are solved this way. If that does not help, use Report a problem on the booking page within 48 hours after the job was completed.

  • Tell us what happened and keep photos or other evidence. We may ask both sides for more information.
  • We look at the evidence and decide fairly: the job stands, or the booking is refunded. If you paid online, the refund goes to your original payment method. If you paid the provider directly, we will ask the provider to return the money, but we cannot return money we never held.
  • A provider who repeatedly causes justified complaints is suspended or removed.

Damage, injury or loss caused during a job is the responsibility of the provider who did the work. We will help you reach the provider and will share the provider’s identity with the authorities when the law requires it.

8. Safety

  • Check that the person at the door is the provider you booked, and give the start code only to them.
  • An adult should be present during the job. Keep cash, jewellery and documents out of sight.
  • Do not ask for work that is unsafe or needs a licence the provider does not have (for example gas work or work on the electricity meter).
  • In an emergency, call the local emergency number first. Then tell us through the booking page or at support@giveawayworld.online.

More advice is on our Safety page.

9. Reviews

Only customers with a completed booking can review a provider. Reviews must be honest and about the job. We remove reviews that are abusive, contain private data or advertising, or were not written by the customer. We never sell or edit ratings.

10. Our responsibility

We are responsible for running the Platform with reasonable care. Because the service is provided by an independent provider, to the extent the law allows we are not liable for the provider’s work, delays, behaviour, or for damage or loss arising from it.

Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumer law gives you and that cannot be excluded, or our liability where it cannot be limited by law.

11. Complaints to us

For complaints about a booking, a payment or the way we handled a problem, write to support@giveawayworld.online or see Complaints and feedback. Please include the booking number (it starts with “S”).

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when we add a service, a way to pay or a country. The version that applied when you made a booking continues to apply to that booking.

13. India

For services booked in India, GiveAway acts as an online marketplace and an intermediary under the Information Technology Act, 2000. Your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 are not limited by these terms.

Complaints are handled by our Grievance Officer — see Grievance Officer. You can also contact the National Consumer Helpline (1915).
